RED BLANKET, BLUE BOWL, WRENCH (2013)
Repair, metaphor and narrative are explored materially and philosophically in this triptych. Objects gifted to me by women: two are repaired semi-functionally and one awaits its fix. The blanket is patched and the bowl filled; icons of traditional repair techniques.
Visually, the materials juxtapose one another but metaphorically they are mono-material. Visibly damaged and visibly repaired, they represent care and effort, destruction and addition of narrative it via remaking and repair, conservation of objects-of-cultural-insignificance.
