Contact me about working together: bridget@bridgetharvey.co.uk
I make and repair objects for exhibitions and private collections. I also loan my work for exhibitions. Please contact me to discuss my artefacts, commissioning work or loans, or Varuna at Ruup&Form gallery for sales.
I sometimes take repair commissions. Send me with images of your object to discuss what I might be able to do.
My research skills include archive/collections, visual and/or object based, library/text and digital based research, as well as formal/informal interviews.
I collate and present this work through making artefacts accompanied by visuals, texts and talks.
Through my curatorial practice I group objects together to express or suggest particular narratives, complexities, ask questions and propose ideas around making. I use these opportunities to explore ideas such as zero waste exhibition making, experimental publication methods, and digital and physical interactions.
I also give talks and interviews about my work, online, pre-recorded and/or in person.
Previous venues include Collect2020 and 2021, Victoria and Albert Museum, the Goethe Institute, conferences such as Making Futures (Plymouth) and educational institutions such as Sunderland University, Central St. Martins, Birmingham College of Art.
I write for academic and non-academic audiences, exhibition catalogues, blog posts, short and long-form essays. For examples see here.
I am currently offering online: consultancy on creative projects; one to one/group tutorials; group workshops/seminars; writing feedback
My expertise lies in repair, sustainability, craft concepts and ideas, textiles and other material practice. I also run workshops on unpicking and communicating practice, methodologies, writing, and embedding research into practice.
I have over 6 years experience as a MA tutor and as visiting lecturer on BA courses (including 3d Design, Craft, and Textiles), developing and unpicking studio practice and critical research papers/essays. I have designed and delivered modules, workshops and seminars.
